Pandora (unbricker/downgrader) for the TA88v3 runs in the wild

Nowadays running a custom firmware on a PSP is not complex, no downgrading is required as both pro cfw and TN Hen run on the latest firmware, and people who want to install another CFW such as M33 just need to use the necessary tools.
But people who have joined the scene a bit earlier know that the biggest hack for the PSP was the pandora battery, where hackers discovered (with lots of work and a bit of luck) that the battery in the PSP was used not only to power the device, but also to enter service mode, so that Sony repair centers could quickly fix a broken flash or install a new firmware on a PSP. Coupled with a “magic” memory stick, this allowed hackers to create a very cheap downgrade/unbrick mechanism, and basically with a special battery and a special memory stick you could easily unbrick your psp, or install a custom firmware on it. I still have one of those, and it is the most convenient technique for installing a CFW on PSPs that support it. It is also extremely safe, because even if you mess up your flash, you have ways to rewrite it entirely, so there is no risk of brick, unlike recent CFW installation systems.
Sony quickly reacted and their new PSP models were not compatible with this Pandora battery anymore. The first model of motherboards to include a security against the Pandora battery was the Ta88v3, the doomed psp2000 model. This model was still compatible with the battery and could enter service mode, but the magic memory stick didn’t work anymore, so it was basically made useless. Further models (the psp3000) even added more security, rendering the battery itself useless.
Hackers Boryan and ErikPshat have found a technique to use a magic memory stick on a ta88v3, which is a big deal for those of us who are stuck with a bricked psp 2000…
The technique is described in this thread, and the result is shown in this video, made by dev Yoti (who has provided several updates for PSARDumper PSPIdent in the past) and showing the jigkick installing firmware 5.02 on a 6.38 ta88v3 (correction, the psp in the video is a ta85v2, but Yoti guarantees that the results are the same on a ta88v3)
Although this is an impressive breakthrough, I’m going to ask people to not share any links on this, as this unfortunately relies on leaked data/hardware belonging to Sony, and is therefore clearly illegal. Feel free to discuss, but links to infringing material will be removed.

@Javier I think i can answer that question for you yes we will see a pandora battery for psp 3000 in the future maybe a month or two.
does not work in 3000 because in this model the pandora battery will not start, only thing is that the magic memory stick works in 2000

well actualy.. i think its a bit pointles these days cuz of the PRO and TN rulers… but hey its a great discovery… i never used that kind of stuff.. hope neever will…anyways im happy that someone is stll developing hacks for psp.. yay long live PSP =)
It’s not pointless. It unbricks you’r PSP. It isn’t a CFW/LCFW
btw hes russian and thats my neighbors… looks like russia is more interest in psp than the PSV and 3DS…
@shinny thats not the point here its not about hacking the psp meaning cfw way this means that its now possible to unbrick a psp that was useless as a brick so this not about pro hen or tn hen this is about hardware hack that can fix a psp this is even better than a cfw i am just hopping they find away for psp 3k now and well all will be good.

O pb é que tem que dessoldar um componente do memory stick, usar um reprogramador, soldar o componente de volta… muito dificil 😉
Meu conselho é esperar até eles decriptarem os .prx.enc e fazer um método 100% software !

The datel’s battery was fake…
My understanding is that Datel managed to get into service mode, but were expecting the scene to come up with the Memory stick…which never happened since the blue lite tool was never sold on the market (Datel was apparently sued by Sony)
Well this Russian hack could apply to PSP-3000 if someone discovers how to put PSP-3000 into service mode…
Datel has shown that it is possible: now up to the scene to find how !

Sorry, but it 085v2 as i remember. I don’t have an 088v3 when i made this video. But on 088v3 ALL SAME =)

As far as I know, first of all, it will need to find somewhere a fake memory stick with this mark on the back side MSX-M2GN AL406L1L. It’s from China. Legal cards are useless.

Wow, knew someone would leak an official 88v3 stick sometime, but still pretty interesting none the less. I will be even happier if we see someone from the scene get it to work without the leaked files, as, obviously using a copy of a leaked official sony MMS is not nearly as cool as if it was figured out without said sony files.
Still, props to the devs that did this. I will give more props to the person who manages to release something that does the same but does not have the stolen sony mms dump files… : )

It’s not an “88v3 stick” it’s a slim (2k/3k) jigstick with 5.02 ofw (TA-085..TA-092).

It’s times like this that make me feel that no one actually attempted to hack this kind of motherboard and/or psp 3000 and just felt since its newer it can’t be hacked lol.
