Video: TN-Hen 6.38 Proof of concept
Developer HacKmaN, who works closely with Total_Noob on TN Hen, just released a video showcasing TN Hen on a 6.38 OFW.
A few weeks ago, Total_Noob had announced in this interview that he was investigating Kernel exploits on the latest firmware. He then confirmed he was onto something, by showing a video running a kernel exploit POC on a PSP running OFW 6.38.
Today this video shows that porting TN Hen to the latest firmwares seemed like a piece of cake for this talented dev.
In the interview, as well as in his recent videos, Total_Noob (and HacKmaN) stated that this Hen would not be released because of the scene’s attitude towards developers and the whole debate about isos.
Comments about the video on youtube show a mix of angry people, people who promise that 6.38 users are not pirates, that they will “behave”, but we all know how it goes: as long as Hen does not support piracy, “nobody” cares about it, and most of the ones who care just come to insult the lack of iso support.
Total_Noob is now following the path of Davee and Team Typhoon, who had a working Hen on firmware 6.20 more than a year ago, but never released it because of the scene’s attitude.
As far as I’m concerned, I’ve been in the scene long enough to know this: the scene is made of 95% of morons who are in this only for piracy. I fight for the remaining 5%.

No, they will not all work, which is why I was looking for something like this. I guess it just sucks for me to have 6.38 (updated from 6.37 because I say the first video by TN) Maybe someone has another HEN in the works, but I guess I really am a” total noob” to HEN’s, so I am not sure of any other options.

LOL. I’ll buy Team Typhoon’s little tantrum about piracy, because at least they were sincere, even though they were being childish. (And I personally hope that such noob pussies stay as far away as they can from any type of jailbreaking.)
But what TN is doing is ridiculous. Tell me, if he didn’t like piracy, why did he enable PSX loading in the last versions of his HEN, hmmm? He’s just *** that Coldbird and VF have stolen the show(which is good), and *** at the ignorant PRO users rubbing it in with their incessant negative comments(which is bad and should be discouraged.)
As is to be expected when a developer leaves, there are a few users who are defending TN, and writing long tirades against ISO loading and piracy. To those people: desist immediately. Stop pampering this childish ***-wipe. Let him leave the PSP scene in peace. I’ll explain why in a minute.
Does the above statement mean I’m for piracy? No way. But even the legendary developers of old like Tyranid and Dark Alex were aware that their good work would be eventually used for bad. But like any MATURE person would do, they absolved themselves of all blame, because they had no control over what users would do with their software. They tried to serve Wololo’s 5%, and predictably, the bad 95% took advantage of their CFWs and used them to steal. So Team Typhoon was completely at fault for abandoning the scene, and I personally hope they never come back. And how dare they try to restrict what other devs did with their exploit? The arrogance of it all is sickening!
So what about ISO loading? Well, let me see. It’s legal in most countries to make and use backups of your own games, so no problem there. With the PSP in particular it’s the best way to play games, so that’s a plus. And of course, it has one negative, piracy.
What’s to be done about piracy? So far only two groups of people has tried to end it: Team typhoon and TN and his team, by stupidly and arrogantly trying to stop people from using ISO loaders. But I ask you: do you stop the sale and manufacture of kitchen knives because a few people are using them to stab others? No!!! You go after the few using the kitchen knives for the wrong purpose, not deprive every one else of a useful kitchen implement. Why should I lose my ISO loading just because some idiot somewhere is using it for piracy?
What about Sony? They don’t care. They are more alarmed about people running Linux on their PS3s than about piracy on any of their systems. Contrast that with Nintendo and M$ who are actively chasing and suing REAL pirates, not jailbreakers.(Google Matthew Crippen and the New Zealand Man v Nintendo lawsuits.)
As for the people whining about ISO loading on Davee’s and TN’s HENs, these two devs need to understand that they are serving a worldwide group of people, each with their own values and attitudes. Eventually, much of the scene will disintegrate into annoying fanboyism(PRO vs TN HEN) or some ungrateful *** somewhere crying for an ISO loader. You don’t quit and go crying about not releasing new material and posting teasing YouTube videos. You IGNORE them. It’s natural in the fast-paced world of Information Technology, and these immature devs must realise that if they hope for a long and fulfilled career in this field.
In a nutshell, people like the three persons/groups I’ve been criticising throughout this long post that nobody’ll read need to grow up or go to heck. Yes, I said it. Thank your stars that the other devs aren’t as stupid as this trio.

I like what TN and the rest of the devs are doing, but why? It doesn’t make sense (well… sort of but not this) that there are debates about what is the better CFW and I find it hard to believe that TN is taking this considerably serious.
There are others who are stuck on 6.37 like me or 6.38 that would love CFW as much as those haters who doesn’t care. TN would have gotten many positive feedback if he releases it, but instead he rubs it in our faces with this proof of concept video, blaming on us that he won’t do it. Why post a video if you won’t release it amongst the others that will love it?
As much as piracy goes, I don’t really care. I would like a CFW that I can put CXMBs and plugins that work. Even though I have 6.37, I thought there would be a way for CFW, until TN has one but won’t release it.
Bravo TN, I don’t know how other people are going to be happy that it’s our fault, not only you made those haters hate, but the ones who supported you too.

Well, most of the games I like for the psp, i bought before I knew about Hen, ISO loader, etc. I really don’t need to pirate, and I am not encouraging it. I tested an iso file on Tn hen 6.20 using prometheus iso loader. Anyways, many people who know abt the scene aren’t devs, and don’t know the amount of time and skill a build a program. And, from my recent experience, its DEFINITELY not a “piece of cake”. 😛
My main point is, all the work for the hen is wasted if they are not going to release it… I am their big supporter, and seems to me like, they are just teasing me along with all the other 95% people by showing this video but not releasing it… I am really disappointed in TN and Hackman.

Isn’t piracy sort of the point for the hacks? I mean, why even bother putting in and ISO loader if you don’t support piracy? These people have stupid logic.
There is a big difference between hacking and piracy though most people dont really understand it. Hacking is finding flaws in a system to amplify the user experience while piracy is abusing the hard work of the creators of a certain product by using it without paying for it,etc. that’s why people like me are amazed at Total-Noob’s works. His HEN run homebrews and doesn’t have instant access to piracy.

but, for several reasons an iso loader is very useful. think about this:
in my job i earn 625 dollars=2500 Argentinean Pesos
and an original game costs 75 dollars(aproximately) = 300 Argentinean Pesos: maybe you dont realize this but, y promise you, this is so much expensive for us
i have a psp 3000 6.37 that i bought month ago. and its costs 1500 argentinean pesos, half of my earns.

It’s Fake. I just tested it on my PSP 1000. It opens up and shuts the PSP down.
If TN did find a kernel exploit and port/made the HEN for it, I’d rather he not release it. Not yet at least. With all this PSN downtime and everything you can bet there will be an update or something from $ony. The exploit could be in that update still and would be a waste to release it now so they can fix it IMHO. I can wait.
guys give up on TN, someone will find the exploit someday.

I know that TN and Hackman have done amazing things with the PSP and also re-invigorated many devs back into the PSP world with 6.20TN-E.
Would this exploit discovery be compatible with Davee’s Downgrader?
If it is then surely a collaboration of efforts from TN/Hackman/Davee would be beneficial to the scene as this would allow new users to the scene a fair start and utilise 6.20TN-E.
I for one am whiling to use a 6.38 PSPGo as a test platform if required (for the Downgrader i mean), I also have one of the “unhackable” PSP 2000’s as well if needbe.
that why chinese psp hackers are better then foreign hackers
because they know the reason for why people play pirate games. while total-noob and the other hackers are just….hmmm….what should i call it….*** *** and noobs who don’t know that reason.
allow me to say those reasons:
1. in some countries, take my country, China, for example, not many people are middle class. a psp and a psp game in China is pretty expansive, too.
2. region-locked games. even if you imported a game, you still can’t play it. why? because the developers put a region lock on the game so it only plays on japanese PSPs. unless you spent extra and buy a japanese PSP.
3. most people don’t know this. Even if a game is being pirated, it still sells well and the developers got the money they wanted, because people who dumps the PSP games and make it into an ISO needs to buy the game and use a dumper to dump it, where else will they get the game from? im pretty sure the developers won’t give them the game.
