Release: OpenIdea ISO Loader by Dridri

I’m a bit late on that one but I had to test it by myself before writing this news. Most people reading this blog probably already know that an ISO Loader by liquidzigong is now available for all PSP owners, especially those enjoying TN Hen. But because choice is always good, here’s an alternative posted by developer dridri: OpenIdea Iso Loader. Dridri started working on this loader a while ago, and it is great to see it led to something working so good

The very good point of this loader is that it runs your isos directly from the XMB, as you can see on this Demo video:

The clever process imagined by Dridri allows you to simply convert your isos into an Eboot which will call the correct prx files. This makes running these files relatively painless even for non experts

How to use

(thanks to OM9H4X )

Extract the ISO Loader (link 1) and put all the .prx-files in “ms0:\PSP\SYSTEM”. there is NO need to register these in the vsh.txt file
Take an ISO of your choice and drop it onto the “iso_packer.exe” that is the eboot converter (link 2).
After the program finished converting, put the EBOOT (that can be found in the same directory as the ISO it has been created from) on your MS like this “ms0:/PSP/GAME/anynamehere/EBOOT.PBP”
The converted ISO should now show up in the games section in the XMB.

Dridri is actively working on this awesome tool, so expect more updates in the near future There are reports that exiting a game will crash (although as you can see on the video, the “pause” feature on the PSP go seems to work just fine), and don’t expect all games to work with this for now, but it will surely improve with time.

It goes without saying, but this tool is intended for loading backups of games you actually own. Comments promoting piracy will be moderated.

Yeah, One for a Mac and linux please?
I could be a realy good hacker by now, if people didn’t make things Just for windows >:(

Oh – and with Wine, my macs a PowerPc not a newer Intel so I have no way of running .exe >:’(

  Just so you know most tools for PSP programming are made for linux, and later ported to Windows.
  
  AFAIK the eboot builder comes with sources included, it should be fairly easy to port it to any kind of scripting language such as perl, ruby, or python. Not need to be hardcore for that.

Tried it on Star Trek Assault, Sid Meier’s Pirates, and Dead or Alive Paradise. It looks great in the XMB menu, but all of them either crashed while loading or while exiting.

  Incidentally, I should add that every game this program converts is now named “Open Idea ISO loader” in the XMB menu. Not a huge problem, but a little annoying nonethless. It’s a wonderful program, but its obviously still in the Beta stage.

It converts perfectly for me, however, no games will load. I have firmware 6.31 and I tested Disgaea Infinite and Pirates! Whenever I try to start the game it tells me “This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted”

  you need to start total_nnob’s HEN first (via halfbyteloader)
  however, YOU CAN’T do that with your firmware (like the HEN’s name let you guess, you’ll need the OFW6.20)
  
  thinking that you just need to copy some prx’s to your mms and then being able to play backups…*facepalm*

I start HEN always.
My memory stick have a problem:
I need to get the card
I reset the vsh
I can already read and homebrew
but when I turn on OpenIdea can not read ISO
and appears
If nothing happens, just exit… :´(

I Guess Liquidzigong Kinda Stole Dridri’s Thunder On This One

Although BOTH Loaders Are Extreamly Useful And I Comemorate BOTH Coders On Their Work, Dridri’s Loader Still Has A Few Minor Bugs To Be Worked Out. Such As The Ability To Exit Games.

Other Than That, Excellent Job. Keep Up The Good Work!

The Prometheus ISO Loader doesn’t work for my psp 3004 ,

I followed every step,
I downloaded the files placed on my psp etc.
When I’m in HEN mode and I start the Prometheus Isoloader my PSP keeps freezing and then shuts down (I have tried to launch the isos on both drivers: m33 driver and the Sony’s one) .
I have tried many of iso’s but no one works.

I downloaded the OpenIdea ISO Loader by Dridri.

I downloaded the files on my psp etc.
When I’am in HEN mode I start the ISO
But there is a error

Please Wololo, someone help me!

  i got a psp 3004 board9c and hbl109 i can run the patched ver. of tn-a6.2 if i use photofast adapter cr-5200 (sdhc class4)but couldn´t use tn-a with a sandisk mspd 512mb(magicgate). Tn-a run with it plugins also but no hb. Have u tryed an other ms. I´m not sure but u need some(how much) free space to open iso/cso archive.
  OpenIdea ISO Loader couldn´t run iso u have to convert them 2 eboot.

this iso loader i think doesnt work on psp 3001 v 6.20
i tried running tekken 6 on this but it won’t load and it just freezes better fix this as soon as possible. and oh prometheus is working fine with jap version games and isnt as comatible to the english ones so keep up the good work and im proud of being a computer engineer cause of you guys

When i try to run my games in OpenIdea 0.1 i get this message:

hey wolo how bout shearing psn brought games.. you know when u have games the code starts with nuph0000 you think you can like make it so that you don’t need iso anymore, just everyone start uploading there games brought off the psn store.. ive been trying to replace eboot files, it shows up in the xmb but when i try an start it*corrupt file*… for example if u have a pspgo with god of war ghost of spartan , an i have metal peace walker an we swap game files would it be able on each other psp’s…. if so you would not have to even hack ya psp to play iso right??????

  What are you, stupid? PSN bought games ALL have a license you’re required to have to play them. You can only GET the license by buying the game. And if you don’t know how to get PSP games for free, well, this ISO loader isn’t meant for you.

For anyone using psp 1000 2000 or 3000 v6.20
this program doesnt work i repeat….
but it does work on psp go
it still nid to be fixxed in order to work properly and thanks to this perhaps an exploit that turns the iso to eboot should work try turning the iso to eboot which makes it then into a demo which is legal demo games are legal why not use that concept for your next program spider-monkey got a good idea

I got the same problem, I think it is only compatible with the PSP Go.
I hope they will fixed soon for the PSP 1000, PSP 2000 AND PSP 3000

The 1.1v beta2 doesn’t work for me! I already runs Burnout Legends with 0.1 alpha version, when I tried the update, don’t runs anymore, It stops in ‘Starting EBOOT.BIN… returned 0x043CEC09′.
What is different in this version?
