TN-Hen: new video showing the VSH Menu, and release date announced
After several weeks without official news, Total_Noob posted yesterday a new video of his Hen showing the VSH menu in action. The VSH menu is a feature that used to give access to basic functionality (choice of the ISO mode, etc…) on Custom Firmwares. In the case of unhackable motherboards, this menu is becoming a much more essential feature, as a “replacement” of the recovery menu. On TN’s video, we can see that his recovery menu has a bit more than what we were used to so far:
- CPU Clock (change the CPU clock in the XMB)
- CPU Clock Game (change the CPU clock in Games. It’s pretty cool to have a separate feature, you can then run full speed in games, and “normal speed” in the XMB, to save on the battery)
- Fake Region (This will probably allow EU/US owners to access features usually only useful in Japan such as oneseg – not that it is useful…- and hopefully to play all region UMD)
- Skip Gameboot (self explanatory)
- Hide Mac Address (A useless feature, except for paranoid people who think that Sony will waste their time hunting you down based on your Mac address in a youtube video)
- TN Network update (A system to bypass the automatic Sony update, and automatically get updates for the Hen by Wifi maybe?)
- Hide Pic1 & Pic0
- Spoof Version (display a different version number in the system info)
- Protect Flash 0 (A feature we mentioned earlier, to prevent programs from writing in the flash, this will hopefully be VERY helpful to prevent stupid people from installing a CFW on a 3000 or a pspgo…)
Looks pretty cool overall. Clearly Total_Noob is working on more than a Homebrew enabler here, this looks more and more like an LCFW rather than a “simple” Hen.
On the video you can see that the Hen currently runs on 6.20 through HBL. Total_Noob announced earlier that he would release this version first, and would focus on TN Hen 6.35 later on, but he also said yesterday on pspking.de that he would release a downgrade homebrew (for 6.20 owners who want to go to 5.03 maybe?)
Total_Noob also announced that the Hen for 6.20 will be released sometimes between December 20th and December 24th on the site pspgen.com

I mean If you will Use the Downgrader on pspgo it just Useless.
Because pspgo original firmware is 5.50 and 5.70 so No HEN only you can do
is stay on 6.20TN-A (hen)
But if you are a psp 3000 your Lucky! if you want experience CFW then downgrade to 5.03.
its just my own opinion.
I believe the psp go can only go no lower than 5.70. But then again this information was base on my knowledge , so I might be wrong 😛

Wow when it comes to be a great hacker there’s nobody in my opinion better than Total Noob. This hen is going to be a giant record breaking hack. Total Noob might change the psp forever..
Little update: Plugins Support
Hi guys,
Today TN just add plugins support to his TN HEN. Most of the plugins will not work, because lots of plugins are desgined for 5.XX. He perhaps may update some plugins for us, like cxmb, dayviewer. The VshMenu now has a new option FAST SCROLL MUSIC (thanks to Torch who allows him to use it).

Maybe he release a downgrade for 6.35 Users, so while he ports his 6.20 HEN to 6.35 we can use his HEN. This would be cool.

this HEN is useless if it can’t load ISO. i only wanted ISO loading. homebrew sucks, low quality boring stuff. ISO is what everyone is waiting for. TN must enable ISO on his HEN or else HIS work sucks!

where i say that all tn has really achieved is that as long as your homebrew doesn’t crash/ psp runs out of ram, you won’t have to go through the whole annoying patapon song 35s minimum wait thing. this is a huge improvement on hbl i admit, but you are right , i now see, because if it does not bring about a huge improvement in the current compatiblility list, it is as i said in my post, a complete none event.
what about 6.31 users??
I thought downgrading was a no-go on new psp’s or was that only for installing custom firmware? If you can really downgrade why not just release the app for 6.35 through kernel exploit so that they can downgrade to 6.20 and use HEN. He wouldn’t have to port it to 6.35. Just saying, less work for TN.
I agree with the people saying a downgrade would be a good thing to release! So that people will get the HEN on the release date for Christmas on 6.20 and then have the optional upgrade to 6.35. But the downgrading is probably impossible or would take longer than it would to release 6.35, wouldn’t it?

For TN’s Hen 6.20 does it work also on PSP GO 6.20??
It WILL be. Don’t think you can do it as soon as the HEN is released. You know the process for installing CFW using ChickHEN, I presume? It will be something similar.
