TN Hen: Should you update to OFW 6.31?
A few days ago Total_Noob announced he would probably port his Hen for 6.31. For some reasons, this seemed to confuse a lot of people, and people are wondering if they should upgrade to 6.31.
The short answer is: NO, if you want a hacked PSP, NEVER upgrade, that’s the basic rule.
Long answer:
We know that the kernel vulnerability exists on all firmwares up to 6.31. We also know that Total_Noob started working on the Hen for both 6.20 and 6.31. Nobody can predict the future, and we can’t say if the hen will be released for 6.31 or 6.20 first, or both at the same time (although Total_Noob recently stated that he would release it for 6.20 first, and then work on 6.3x depending on Sony’s reaction).
Whatever happens, people who stay on firmware 6.20 will have the choice to update to 6.31 if needed. People who upgrade to 6.31 now won’t have the possibility to downgrade to 6.20, and could get sc***.
So, whatever happens, staying at 6.20 is the best possible choice for now. Actually, staying at the lowest firmware possible is always the best possible choice you can make if your goal is homebrews and your psp is not yet hacked.
People who are only interested in playing online and play official games are of course not targeted by this post, but I don’t expect such people to read my blog anyways 😛

well im on 6.31 but i think its smart to release 6.20 Hen first then hopefully sony will release new OFW then release VSH exploit which will be unpatched in the new firmware, so you kinda use the 6.20 one as bait. ideas? (yay first comment)

It’s pretty clear from what T_N said that, 6.20 will be released first then 6.31 depending about Sony’s reaction.(Even you mentioned it in the earlier post) I don’t know why people are asking T_N or even rather thinking that he will read their damn posts. It’s T_N’s HEN he will see what to do and even after mentioning what will be released first, still these kids seem to trouble him or rather wasting their time on commenting.(In the sense, asking non-sense questions)
Jeez, sooner or later wololo is going to make an article about how we should put our pants on. But then again, I am forgetting that this is the noob-friendliest website for hacking PSPs. 🙂
i just want to know if patapon exploit trigger hen and its work on 6.21 then can it be working on 5.50 or any other fw below 6.21 or it need to update to 6.21 ?

This is till bs look wololo if tn makes hen for 6.30 first then people start buying the game on psn but as i speak now the game maybe will be patched and people will waste money for nothing at all as for now the hen should come to 6.20 and then see what sony moves are maybe new fw will come who knows for what i see is and there is more people on 6.20 we already waited weeks and now then work is alomost done he wants to port ok if he ports it still i mean 6.20 tn is almost done from the look of the videos so he still could release it for 6.20 and pataton starts faster and its free.So what is he talk about he already almost finished 6.20 TN it could just release the 6.20 and then port to 6.30 and see how it goes.

i wish we could have a kernel exploit for 99% homebrew compability without the possibility of iso loading. PSPs games suck anyways, id rather pay $40 for
NesterJ or FCEUltra than for a regular game.
i dont play any commercial games on the psp, they take too long to load,
most of them begin to repeat themselves so they get boring, theyre too expensive, theyre either on stupid optical media disks or you cant sell them (if you downloaded them), and the ONLY game i’d consider to play is wipeout pulse which i already own for the PS2.
@leonardo, ok well is that what his doing? oh and I would like to know if he’s tested the VSH exploit on a pspgo yet? i know he got some from a deal with pspgen. just wondering.

Ok, now that the obvious is out of the way, I just updated 6.30 from 6.20.
Because, I think I understand what this blog is truly trying to tell us. Personally, I think it’s fantastic news for ALL psp users involved. This way NO one is left out. Particularly, the thousands of people who just recently purchased a PSP/Go etc. They will come in the door at 6.31. And, now even they will be able to share in on the fun!

and next reason dont think about your self ware is many people who have 6.30 but cant import the game or buy it from psn and ware is more people on 6.20 as well releasing it for 6.30 would be big mistake you never know what sony can bring on. so yeah free way is better

People on higher firmwares shouldn’t be made to suffer because you cant afford to buy one little golf game. The reality of the situation is that there are in actuality MORE people on 6.3xx then there are on older firmwares. And, by Christmas, there will be almost triple that amount of new psp owners who would love to have this option available to them.
As for Sony patching things up, that could happen today if they wanted. The logic behind waiting is almost null considering how sony has patched absolutely nothing almost since the creation of the Patapon exploit. I honestly think that they just dont care anymore. But, this remains to be seen.

@Kobe: just so you know, Thanksgiving has absolutely no meaning for 97% of the Earth population. I don’t see why Total_Noob (who’s not American) would release it on that date thinking that it has any kind of “special” meaning 😛

im luck i stay to 6.20 over a years.
TN have to release the HEN on 6.31 becuz Sony will patch the both exploits (kernel and user) in the next firmware , so it doesnt matter if you dont waste an exploit becuz you wont be able to use that exploit if the KERNEL EXPLOIT is patched in the next firmware, did you understand what am I tryng to say?
I know that there are a lot of user mode exploits, one less is not very important.
I want to know What is you opinion
