Half Byte Loader on OFW 6.30
Mamosuke just informed me that coder J416 started porting Half Byte Loader to firmware 6.30, based on his game exploit previously found on 6.30.
Before you get your hopes too high:
- I haven’t tested this and I don’t know the name of the game, but I trust mamosuke (and therefore J416 as well), so I know this is real
- This is still work in progress and might take a few weeks before it is usable
- This relies on a game exploit, which is not a Demo. It means that people would have to buy that game, and additionally, it will most likely be patched very quick on the PSN, so interest is limited for PSP Go owners (although rumors say that a solution exist against Sony patching their games on the PSN)
To mamosuke and J416: Good luck guys, you know my email address if you need help on this. Also, please keep in mind that HBL is GPL, so if you release this, we’ll be expecting the sources as well 😉

@wololo: this is what i have to say, wololo i havent used HBL but i know its amazing, i.thank u for makong it public even though.it didnt go as planned. as soon as hbl is released for 6.30/6.31 i will donate wether i get hbl or if i miss my chance either way

Jerry, your question doesn’t make much sense. The question you should ask is: “if I get a psp go, will the firmware on it be 6.20 or 6.30 ?” I believe most units sold are still 6.20 (so HBL will run on it). It’s not like Sony sold all their stock 😛

wololo i was going to.ask.if the exploit the.game was found in does it have an english version? and if its japanese how am i supposed to download it?
@crisiscore-x-: usually an exploit only works for one version of the game (for example japanese), but the vulnerability often exists in other regions of the game, or even sequels/prequels, so the exploit needs to be adapted to other regions.
In other words, if the exploit is revealed for a japanese game, there’s few chances that the same exploit is revealed at the same time for the US version of the game, until the hackers spent lots of time hacking all the versions…
to buy a japanese game, you simply need to create an account on the JP PSN. The problem with the PSP is that you then have to activate/deactivate your accounts everytime you need to switch (yes, Sony, despite its size, is clueless about the word “globalization”)

I was using HBL on my PSP Go 6.20 but I updated to 6.30 because I didn’t have any games on my PSP and now I’m waiting for the HBL for 6.30, anyway, I want to thank you, Wololo, and your team by the work, Thanks in the name of all that have PSP Go! 😀
